6 Things I Love Saturday

Sorry it’s been a few (or only two) days, folks. I totally missed my 5 Things I Love Friday, and I had a couple of things in mind that I wanted to write about in it, so I’ve switched to 6 Things I Love Saturday this week. I promise there will be no whining or complaining about my injury today (although it has NOT gotten better), only good things today! I’m trying to look at the positive side of being injured. So here goes…

1. Spending time with family. I love my family, and sometimes I feel selfish about taking time for myself when I’m running. I have to put my dogs in tier crates most of the time when I go running, and I have let it interfere with my plans with friends and family before (please tell me I’m not the only person guilty of this!). Since I’ve been laid up, I’ve spent some more quality time with my family: watching movies with JP, visiting my parents (they only live five minutes away), and on Sunday (typically my long run day), we’ll be heading to Rhode Island to visit my inlaws.

2. Hard Cider.
I’ve been branching out from my Angry Orchard. Lily mentioned something about Stella Artois Cidre the other day, and when I was at the store yesterday going for my usual AO, I spotted the Stella Cidre the other day. As a habitual creature, I nearly just went for my normal cider, but the adventurous side of me said “try it.” How does this relate to my being laid up? I love to try different hard ciders and wine, but I tend to avoid drinking alcohol when I’m running on a regular basis because I’m constantly trying to stay hydrated as it is when I’m running a lot, and alcohol has the opposite effect. Also, it sometimes irritates my stomach. So this is a good thing, as long I don’t turn into an alcoholic. There’s another brand of cider I want to try soon. I’ll have to get back to you on that one, I can’t even remember the name. I might have to do a once a week blog post dedicated to hard cider…

3. Listening to Normal Music
Yeah, I’m one of those people who listens to Britney, Rihanna, and Kesha when I run. Nothing wrong with that, but I have been enjoying listening to regular, normal music like Pearl Jam, Meatloaf, and the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. OK, maybe not normal music, but stuff that strays from the norm lol.

4. Being a girly girl.
I almost forgot what it was like to paint my nails, straighten my hair, and just do girly things for once.
And my mom bought me this shampoo because my well water is so hard. It’s amazing.

5. Eating.
Eating without having to worry about how it will affect my running. Enough said!

6. Connecting with other bloggers in the community. I’ve read about about so many running bloggers in the last few days that you’ve become like close friends and family to me…which is why I decided that if I can’t write about running, I’d Love to profile one different runner/blogger each week.

If you would like to be a featured runner, or would like to nominate someone else to be profiled on 26.2×2 leave a comment below. If I can’t run, then that doesn’t mean this blog shouldn’t be writing about the subject!

I really like these types of posts. Sometimes when I straighten my hair and put on make up, I think: Whoa, I don’t look at all like Running Heather. LOL. I’ve never tried that cider. Sounds good though. You may certainly add me to your list if you like…..although I’m sure I’m not the most interesting Running blogger out there! LOL.

Great post! Even if you weren’t updating us on a run πŸ˜‰ I can relate though – I feel like I haven’t had many running posts this winter, but since I read about running, I’m still thinking and talking about it. Lol And I always find myself enjoying and appreciating other things too when I’m not running. πŸ’…

I am sorry your injury has not gotten better but YAY for all the wonderful things that are going on in your life. I was thinking about that yesterday…is there anything GOOD coming up of my situation?? It’s hard to look at the good when you are stuck in the bad. Since I am not running yet, I started writing a few posts about past races I ran. Maybe you could do that!?

I love the Stella Cider! This weekend I had some Schilling Company cider that was delicious, but I’m not sure how widely available it is outside of Seattle. I also highly recommend any cider from Blue Mountain Cider Company. They’re located in NE Oregon and are carried at Whole Foods in Seattle, not sure about the East Coast though, do you have Whole Foods?
Maybe we should do a Cider swap – I’ll send you some of mine if you send me some of yours πŸ˜‰
